Eva Väljaots - Hundinuiaõis * Bulrush Bloom
Hundinuiaõis * Bulrush Bloom is the debut solo album of Eva Väljaots – an Estonian kannel player with a distinctive style. It consists of her self-penned music, which she performs on several kannels and hiiu kannel/jouhikko. The music on the album is accompanied by Eva’s illustrations, which are published in the album booklet and follow the adventures of a bulrush bloom – a little and vigorous character who travels around the world.
Eva Väljaots & Robbie Sherratt - Skylark
Skylark (2023) is the debut album of Eva Väljaots & Robbie Sherratt. Their tradition sensitive original music is greatly inspired by bird songs and nature sounds, performed on 5-string fiddle, kannel, hiiu kannel and vocals.
Heino Sõna ja Eva Väljaots - Viimane Nelk
Heino Sõna (1937-2019) was a külakannel (village kannel) player, who mastered the traditional 'village style' of playing. The album Viimane nelk (Last Dianthus, 2019, Estonian Traditional Music Centre) consists of tunes written by him, a few folk tunes he learned from his father plus a piece written by his student and fellow musician Eva Väljaots. Eva plays on the album on the külakannel which she inherited from her great-grandfather and learned to play from Heino Sõna. Together they played music on many concerts and dance events. In 2019, the album was nominated for the best authentic folk music at the Estonian folk music awards Etnokulp.
The Kannel Player Heino Sõna
Audio and video collection of Heino Sõna, one of the few contemporary külakannel (village kannel) players. It gives an overview of his repertoire, compositions and cooperations with other musicians. Eva Väljaots is a co-compiler of the collection and co-musician on the recordings.
